How to do it faster and save your money - Moving Tips
1. Great time to declutter your life!
Moving is a great time to remove unnecessary items from your life.
Maybe take them to GoodWill or sell them on eBay?
2. HAVE YOU SECURED A PARKING SPOT?
Try to secure a parking spot as close to the entrance as possible.
We can double park or park our 26 ft truck near a red curb. However, customers shall be responsible for any parking tickets resulting therefrom, as well as for the ones that are not our fault! But let’s be optimistic and hope for the best!
3. ELEVATOR IS MOVERS’ BEST FRIEND!
Reserve it, if your building has it. In most apartment buildings elevators are frequently used and are pretty much crowded. So, if not reserved in advance, it’ll take more time to wait for one when going up or down.
4. DON'T FORGET MAGIC STICKERS
Sticker pads are magic things! Do you have a lot of items, but not moving all of them? Just attach stickers on to things you want us to move.
5. Empty your furniture
Usually, a large piece of furniture like a dresser is heavy. With your clothes in it, it’ll weight two times more. Just think how difficult it’ll be to move such an item if narrow spiral stairs are on the way. Please save movers’ backs and your time & money – empty your large items and pack their contents in boxes.
Please make sure to remove all your food from your refrigeration before it’ll be loaded into the truck.
6. Be Packed in Advance
A significant portion of your moving time will be spent packing your belongings. You can pack small items into boxes yourself in advance, such as kitchenware, electronics, clothing, and personal belongings.
This will help make your moving day faster and more organized.
7. VERIFY YOUR MOVING COMPANY
Before hiring any moving company, protect yourself and your belongings by doing a quick background check. Ensure the company has proper state licensing for local moves.
Research your moving company’s reviews. You can look for online reviews of moving companies in Los Angeles on reputable websites like Yelp, Google, and CompareMovingPrices
8. CHOOSE THE RIGHT TIME TO MOVE
The timing of your relocation can significantly impact the cost. Moving companies typically raise their rates during periods of high customer demand.
Move on weekdays: Tuesday through Thursday are typically the cheapest days to move.
Mid-month is ideal: Avoid the beginning and end of the month when demand peaks due to lease turnovers.
9. DO YOU HAVE ANY EXPENSIVE ITEMS?
Please take all of your expensive items like gold bars or huge jewelry collection with you. Our truck has not enough protection under the armor.
People say that a moving is a stressful thing. We’re trying to keep you in a good shape 🙂
TIPS ON HOW TO IMPROVE YOUR PACKING SKILLS:
PUT HEAVY ITEMS IN SMALLER BOXES AND LIGHTWEIGHT ITEMS IN LARGER ONES
WHEN PACKING, PUT LIGHTWEIGHT ITEMS ON TOP OF HEAVY ONES
PUT A BARRIER BETWEEN ITEMS TO ENSURE AN EXTRA LAYER OF PROTECTION
For example, bubble wrap, paper, foam peanuts, old towels or clothes.
MAKE SURE EACH BOX IS FULLY CLOSED AND PROPERLY TAPED
LABEL BOXES WITH FRAGILE ITEMS FIRST SO THAT YOU CAN EASILY FIND THEM LATER
WHEN STACKING, PUT LIGHTWEIGHT BOXES ON TOP OF HEAVY ONES
Here are the most popular types of boxes.
Small box - 16.5 × 12.5 × 12.5
Good for packing glass, cups, dishes and lightweight books
Medium box - 18.5 × 18 × 16
Good for medium-sized kitchen supplies and lightweight books
Large box - 18 × 18 × 24
Good for larger lightweight items like lamp shades and computer equipment
We’d be happy to do all the packing for you – just ask! Besides, you can buy boxed from us, too.
